Internships
Build Your Future With Hands-On Experience
At ESCO Group, we believe the best way to learn is by doing. Our internship program is designed to give you more than just a summer job — you’ll work on real projects that impact real clients in industries like food & beverage, water/wastewater, ag science, oilseed processing, chemicals, bio-fuels, utilities/power generation, and discrete manufacturing.

What You’ll Do
Hands-On
Work hands-on with electrical engineering, design, and automation projects. That includes things like load evaluations, coordination studies, power distribution one-lines, control panel layouts, wiring schematics, network architecture, process instrumentation diagrams, etc.
Meaningful Work
Participate in both technical and “staff” roles, if applicable: whether that’s automation, design, process engineering, or areas like IT, marketing, HR or accounting—supporting teams, doing meaningful work tied to your studies.
Tools and Technology
Use tools and technologies commonly used in the industry: boilers, AutoCAD Electrical, PLCs, HMIs, safety circuits, site plan layouts—putting into practice what you’re learning in school.
Weekly Check-ins
Join in weekly check-ins and group experiences: mentor feedback, group presentations, outings, site visits, learning from other interns, touring facilities, etc.
The Intern Experience

From the very first day, you’ll be paired with a dedicated mentor who will guide your work, provide technical training, and offer continuous feedback throughout your internship. Each week, you’ll take part in shared group experiences, including check-ins with the program director, opportunities to give and receive feedback, and collaborative learning with your fellow interns. You’ll also gain exposure to different ESCO locations working both on-site and remotely as projects require. Most importantly, the work you do will be meaningful and impactful, allowing you to contribute directly to live projects rather than just completing busywork. As your internship ends, you’ll have the chance to present your work and share the skills and insights you’ve gained.
“I came back to ESCO from last summer because of the culture and exciting work, as well as the great learning environment.”
– Ryan Martin, Automation Associate
Real Work, Real Impact
At ESCO, interns are treated as true members of the team and not just observers. You will have the chance to make a meaningful contribution, and interns are often among the first considered for full-time opportunities after graduation. Throughout the program, you will gain mentorship, hands-on experience, and real responsibility that help you build a strong resume and a clear sense of direction for your future career. The internship focuses on more than technical training by also developing essential professional skills such as communication, project planning, problem solving, and teamwork. Along the way, you will discover which areas of engineering or automation excite you most, whether that is electrical design, controls, process instrumentation, or even staff-related roles.
“I chose ESCO because the culture is one in a million. Every person that works at ESCO is so genuine and nice that coming to work is a great experience!”
– Cole Miller, Electrical Design Associate
