Advancing Robotics: ESCO Automation’s Path to Certified Systems Integration with Universal Robots

Universal Robots makes collaborative robots that work well in spaces requiring human access. Our team is working towards becoming a Certified Systems Integrator (CSI) for UR. This will improve our business relationship both with them and our clients that are looking to become more active in the robotics space. One of the standout perks that we will have access to is test units made available to provide demonstration of project viability prior to a client purchasing a robot. This gives us great flexibility in the variety and scale of projects that we are able to approach.

In pursuing the CSI title for ESCO, three members of our Advanced Manufacturing Team (Rachel Teberg, Carlos Morales, and myself) have completed the UR Champion training certification, which is the highest level of external training that UR offers. We experienced lessons on how to assemble programs, repair robot arms, and write custom scripts within UR’s development environment.  The three of us completed the course evaluation and have also executed a deployment review of a completed project. This has brought us to the final stages of becoming a CSI.

By combining the engineering talent already present in the company with the opportunities presented by the CSI title, we aim to produce solutions for every use case. The ability for us to create off the shelf robotics offerings using UR’s products is also a huge boost in our ability to build out the Advanced Manufacturing catalog in the robotics space. I personally am excited to utilize our new training lab robot to showcase to our clients what we have learned through this process, and what is possible with our continued development of the relationship with UR.
