- Purpose
- The purpose of this policy is to provide guidelines for the use of company owned equipment.
- Program
- ESCO Group’s Company Owned Equipment Use Policy applies to all work and permitted non-work activities that involve the use of company owned equipment.
- Definitions
- Catastrophic potential: Ability to cause death, serious injury or loss of infrastructure/utility services.
- Company owned equipment: Any hand tool, power tool, fabricated tool, meter, mechanically operated device, et al. purchased or created by ESCO Group.
- Non-work related use: Any use of company owned equipment either while on company premises or off company premises that is not directly intended for the completion of a company project.
- Expectations
- Company owned equipment is to be used solely for company projects unless an employee is provided written consent from an authorized representative of the company through the use of the ESCO Group Hold Harmless documentation within this policy.
- Employees shall return equipment to the company in the same condition as it was borrowed after non-work related use.
- Employees shall return equipment to the company by the date defined on the executed hold harmless for all non-work related use.
- Any damages caused to the equipment by the use of the employee during the non-work related activities will be the responsibility of the borrowing employee. The company will determine where the equipment goes for the needed repairs. The cost of the repairs will be the responsibility of the employee.
- Equipment with catastrophic potential shall not be used for non-work related activities. Equipment that the company has deemed potentially catastrophic is, but not limited to: Skid loaders, excavation equipment, mobile elevated work platforms, boom lifts, confined space equipment, et al.
- Company owned equipment shall be secured when not in use.
- Company owned equipment shall not be exposed to or stored in the weather elements unsuitable in accordance to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Manufacturer’s recommendations shall be followed for the use of the equipment.
